I recently decided to move from New Jersey to San Diego. I'd never been here before, not even once to check it out, and when I arrived (after traveling cross-country with six animals, outrunning a tornado, and enduring the hotel escapades of my chinchillas) San Diego looked me square in the eye, kneed me in the stomach, and said "There, ya sure ya wanna stay?" I squeeked out an "Ok" and moved in. I'm glad I stuck it out because it turns out this place closely resembles Eden. Perhaps the UN-welcome is a test to make sure you're serious? Maybe it's a California thing. Whatever it is, once you're in, you'll find it was worth it. San Fran is a beautiful city full of interesting, health- & environment-conscious people. Be sure to seek out Cafe Gratitude, and if you need a new tee for yoga class, check out my friend Jon's line of bamboo wear at blendapparel.com. (He's based in SF, so you could probably pick it up in person and save yourself the shipping! I'm so jealous!) Mark Morford, writer extraordinaire at the Chronicle, is another favorite fellow San Franciscan. Look him up. You're living with all the cool kids now. Congratulations on your survival!

Chantel comments on Circles around Alcatraz

You guys are awesome!!

Bruce comments on Circles around Alcatraz

A bad day in San Francisco is still better than the best day anywhere else.

Guy comments on Circles around Alcatraz

I used to visit S.F. often. I hope this place is still there, but my favorite restaurant was The House Of Nan King in China Town. There was usually a line out down the street of people waiting to get in.
