Unfortunately I’m embarrassed for our country more days than not. Over the past few years our culture has disintegrated into a hyped up, misinformed country of “report it now, pay for it later” consumers. As a group we’re no longer interested in our realities, we’re interested in our escape and others downfall. Welcome to America; we’re here to build you up and then bring you back down to our level. If it takes going through your garbage, following you at all hours of the day and, shaming you publicly until you break or until you put on 10 pounds so the public can feel better about themselves. We just want to break you and then make you feel horrible about every little thing you’ve ever done wrong.  Think about the vitriol that our news outlets spew 24 hours a day. We consume, we asked for it and now this is what you get. You got Donald Trump running for president.

I’m embarrassed because we refuse to take responsibility on a personal level for our own lives. But yet, Perez Hilton is on his way to getting very very rich by shaming celebrities. Shame for infidelity, shame for not paying taxes, shame for gaining weight, shame for drinking too much. Shame, Shame, Shame. Glen Beck recently took a PSA for cancer by Meghan McCain and turned it into an opportunity to gain more fame by calling her fat and commenting on her appearance. I’m sure he unapologetically went to bed that night and slept well. I read the comments on the news sites to see how readers felt. Guess what, they didn’t just side with Beck – they supported it. Of course he has free speech and of course you do too. But just what made you think you were adding anything to a conversation about decency by adding, “she’s in the public eye, she needs to grow thicker skin”? Honestly, Glen Beck should be shamed out of journalism by OTHER journalists. You want to the respect of your colleagues? Start weeding out the hacks in your field. Stop watching, turn off the show, don’t buy the product, don’t call for a public apology. Money talks, bullshit walks. Stop buying the product and it will stop bothering you.  I don’t want an apology from anyone except my parents. They’re the ones that fucked me over. What do I want from Beck, Trump, Gingrich, Bush, Sheen, Snooki, Lohan and, all the other bullshit television personalities distracting us from our lives? I want them to go the fuck away.

I’m embarrassed to be an American because in the days when we have to deal with a crippling economy, human rights for gays, rights for my own ovaries, judgment  day, stem cell research and, religious freedom among a few of the very critical issues facing our society; we’re spending a lot of money on polls to decide if Donald Trump would or could be our next American President. That is a no brainer America. Pull your head out of your ass, the end is near.

Before the podcast recording yesterday I found out that Mike DeStefano most notably from Last Comic Standing passed away from a heart attack. I’m sure you know Mike was bigger in the comedy world than Last Comic Standing gave him credit for. He was a true inspiration for me. After I found out about his passing I decided to spend my show talking about him and a few free speech issues that he often talked about. It pretty much goes like this; shut up, sit down, close your bible and enjoy the fucking show.

Dr. Brian and Chantel continue to explore the “Stories from the Road Trip”.

Who’s an effing moron?

New Orleans has a very large spot in Dr. B’s heart. In fact there are very few places in the US that he hasn’t traveled and very few places in the US that he doesn’t think are worth a visit. He also has a short list of places that he has lived and loved. New Orleans is on the top of that list.

More important than the epic location is his 40th year. Its our 3rd year together and an epic three years it has been. We did not expect to have a shelf life in love. We were expect to mold quickly and throw our relationship in the garbage like stinky expensive cheese. It’s true, I lost friends over my choice to be with Dr. B and I personally have been challenged daily in an effort to stay in love and stay a couple.

There is no denial that we truly do love each other. Our relationship feeds on our hard work, our desperate love, our commitment and our partnership; despite the fact that I want to punch him in the balls on a regular basis. Relationships are difficult in general. Being in love with Dr. B requires an extra level of patience and forgiveness. For as much as he talks and pontificates and, as much as I never know if he’s joking or if he’s serious. He doesn’t know either, frequently.

He has said many times that he didn’t think he would make it to 40. I agree because Dr. B is a hedonist in the purest form. If he can’t eat it, drink it or, fuck it; he has no interest in it. Which I could say is a very simple and effective philosophy if you think you won’t live past 40.

Dr. B is the type of person who judges no one. He holds no grudges and wishes everyone well. His goals in this life include nothing but laughter and living here in this very moment. He loves unapologetically as so many of us don’t or as many of us wish we could. His love is unconditional even when I don’t think it is. His generosity is only matched by his love of boobs. He thinks I’m beautiful every day – even when I’m not wearing something slutty.

It is true that nothing is that important, nothing is so terrible and we are only here for a moment so we might as well enjoy it while we can. The more I’m with him the more I enjoy this life.
